Letter to your Representative
Below you will find a letter that I have sent to my Congressman and both of my U.S. Senators.
You are free to copy it or just base your own letter on it, but which ever you choose do it now.
Once again or overreaching power hungry Congress has it's sights set on taking over another area of private, free enterpirse business. Another attempt to increase power and scope of the United Soviet Socialist States of America.....
Congressman,
I am well aware that the current financial situation affects a great number of Americans. I myself am a business owner. Unlike most of the individuals affected by the housing and credit crisis, I am mostly unaffected as I did not lend or borrow irresponsibly.
As the situation now stands Congress intends to pass yet another bailout for those who have either borrowed money irresponsibly or lent money without due diligence as to whether the borrower could or would pay it back and for those institutions that bought securities backed by these bad debts.
I am opposed to any such takeover of the free market by Government.
As I know of no provision in the U.S. Constitution that grants the power of benevolence to Congress. Could you please site the exact provision, clause or amendment that grants Congress the authority to make these outrageous bailouts on behalf of the American Taxpayers?
As it stands I would site the 10th Amendment to the Constitution:
“The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.”
This amendment precludes the Congress from taking upon itself these kinds of authorities.
My fellow voters and myself await your answer as we have an election approaching and we must choose whether or not our country should continue to proceed further down this path towards socialism.
