Spread the Wealth Around Joe
Interesting how a situation can get twisted around depending on who is telling the story. Joe the plumbers question was simply that if he buys a business that makes $250,000 a year (not known if that is gross or net) that he would pay more in taxes under Obama’s plan. Not that he currently makes $250,000 a year personally. That is not even the staggering part; the horrifying yet oh so enlightening part was the answer to the question. Of course there was the usual tap dance around the issue but when push came to shove and Obama realized Joe was not biting (just look at the expression on Joe’s face) he got the answer no one else has been able to get. In over 50 years of socialist liberal / social engineering “progressive” tax policy, not once has a democratic candidate for high office actually admitted the goals of liberal tax plans. To tax one group and use the money to buy the votes of another i.e. “spread the wealth around”. Our so called “progressive” tax policy does exactly what Obama admitted it does, punish the success of hard working entrepreneurial minded individuals in order to reward others for their loyalty to the party in the voting booth.
Follow up:
Once again the MSM has done an excellent job of vetting this ordinary American citizen. After all he did ask a question of The One. Who is this plumber to think he knows the best way to spend his paycheck, or any profits he might enjoy from the risk of buying a business in these turbulent financial times?
Metaphorically speaking, I am Joe, you are Joe, we are a nation of Joe the plumbers. Joe is about as ordinary an American as your going to find. I see him all around me, he is my neighbor, he runs the gas station on the corner, I see him drop his kids off at school, he shows up to cheer at little league games and he is the guy who drives the tow truck you need at two in the morning. He is just like you and me, trying to get ahead and provide some security for his family.
He asked a valid question, and I think he got an honest answer, just not one the liberals wanted you to hear. We are going to take money from you, because you will have more than we think you should, and we are going to buy votes with it from people who don’t have as much as we think they should (we, being Obama and the government). Does not matter to them that it was hard work, risk, and sacrifice that enabled Joe to make a profit. It also does not matter that some, if not most of the “less fortunate” that they will be buying the votes from had the same chances at success but chose to make bad choices, and did not take the risks involved to achieve success.
Lets soak the rich and give to the middle and lower income bracket.
That sounds good to some people I suppose, but it is a socialist idea, and an ideology we have fought wars against. “From each according to his ability, to each according to his need”, no mention of incentive or reward for work, no mention of personal responsibility for the wellbeing of one’s self and family. No incentive to strive for excellence, advancement and achievement. Socialist ideology (the platform of the modern Democratic party) believes that if you redistribute income then all will be equal. The problem is there is no incentive to work harder, to save or to invest. There is no reward for the innovation or risk taking that is required to grow a society and an economy. When a socialist society redistributes income to make things “fair” then everyone ends up poor. All one must do is look 90 miles south of Florida, half a century of income and wealth redistribution and they have the lowest standard of living in the western hemisphere. Why do you think brave Cubans build makeshift rafts and brave the open ocean to get to Florida? For the Oranges and Mickey Mouse? NO! They do it so they can enjoy the freedom you and I take for granted and to reap the rewards of hard work that can only be found in a capitalist society. Obama’s redistribution of income will not benefit our society and it will not end poverty. His plans to “spread the wealth around” have not been working thus far. How long has the government been fighting the “the war on poverty”? Since Lyndon Johnson was in the White House. So why are there still poor people?
The rich get richer and the poor get poorer.
Barring an act of God, an accident or a birth defect this is true because those people act accordingly. Rich people get richer because they repeatedly do the things that make them rich. Poor people on the other hand, get poorer because they repeatedly do the things that make them poor. It is said and there is anecdotal evidence that if you take the money from millionaire within a few years they will be richer then they were when you took the money. Case in point (not the best example but a name you should know), how many times has Donald Trump lost his money? It has been a couple now, and yet he is wealthy once again. By the same token how many times have you heard of someone from a lower income bracket winning the lottery, and within a few years they are broke again or even in debt? It is a behavioral aspect of human beings to be creatures of habit. In our land of opportunity the chances to get ahead are out there, but you have to change your habits and behavior to take advantage of them. Government social engineering and “spread the wealth” policies cannot do that for you. Only hard work, self-reliance and some sacrifice can accomplish that.
Our forebears established our nation on the principles of limited government and free market capitalism. They understood that the free exchange of ideas and information combined with a free and open market system with little interference from government would build the greatest society the world had seen. Our country offers everyone the chance to dream big dreams and try big ideas; it also offers you the chance to fail. You will learn more from your failures than you ever will from your successes. Only when government steps in and attempts to make things “fair” by “spreading the wealth around” or nationalizing loss does the system break down.
The radical socialist ideal of Class Envy employed by the liberal Democratic Party is a tactic that resonates with some.
The idea being if you can paint a picture of a certain group of people as evil or even criminal then it will be fine to harm them in order to give the appearance of benefit to your constituent group. In our country today it is perfectly acceptable to use the phrase “Evil Corporations” and to say that rich people only got their money by stealing it from the poor. By creating this class envy you can then promise the poor that you are going to make the corporations and the rich pay “their fair share” and that somehow magically there will be no more poor people. Next time you hear this mantra from the mouth of Senator Government or any of the rest of the liberal democrats take a moment to think, how many times have your heard Democrats make this promise? How many times have you worked a stable, full time job and your employer was a poor person? Rich people, small businesses and corporations are the ones taking risks to start-up and / or expand businesses, in other words, supplying jobs to everyone else. If you target them for tax increases, they will no longer have the capitol nor the incentive start, grow or expand businesses, which means no new hiring and no raises for you. It could also mean a loss of available income to the business, which can easily result in cut backs and layoffs otherwise known as unemployment for you.
So the next time you hear these politicians talking about sticking it to one segment of our society to make things “fair” for another segment, just remember they are really just promising to make everyone poorer, government bigger and you even more dependant on them.
Once again I offer my 10th Amendment challenge. I want anyone to show me the exact article, clause, phrase or amendment to the U.S. Constitution that gives the federal government the authority to remove wealth or income for some people in order to redistribute it to another group of people.
Obama’s plans to “spread the wealth around”, are not just wrong and un-American, they are also unconstitutional.
