Michelle Bachmann Proves Conservatism Wins Everytime
© ignoranceorapathy.com 11/06/08
I have said it so many times and I will say it again, when liberals talk like conservatives they win elections, when conservatives act like liberals they lose!
Once again I am proven right. Rep. Michelle Bachmann (R) (conservative) 6th Dist. Minnesota won her reelection bid to the House of Representatives. Michelle came under fire from the leftist MSM after she had the nerve to point out to Chris (tingly leg) Mathews on HardBall, that Obama’s friends are anti-American. Well the facts are the facts, Ayers, Rev. Wright and that whole bunch that have been palling around with Obama for over 20 years are anti-America. If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it is a duck.
Follow up:
Michelle is a true, dyed in the wool, Reagan style conservative and she is proud to be an American. She is not afraid of the media or the left. She stood head and shoulders above her socialist colleges in the House during the Bailout bill debate (see video) when she took exception to the collectivist/socialist government approach to solving the credit problem. I believe and history bears me out on this, Thomas Jefferson would have hugged her right there on the house floor.
Wall Street Journal reports Rep. Bachmann Holds Off the Blue Tidal Wave
Republican Rep. Michelle Bachmann won re-election in Minnesota, illustrating that although Democrats netted gains in the House, the blue tidal wave that some predicted didn’t materialize. Republicans lost fewer seats this year than in 2006, and several embattled incumbents managed to stay afloat.
...
But the Minnesota sixth district, which curves north from the Twin Cities and encompasses conservative St. Cloud, stayed red. Like several of his fellow Minnesota Democrats, Tinklenberg was unable to ride Obama’s coattails to victory.
Rep. Bachmann has shown an uncanny ability to outlive remarks seen as gaffes by commentators. In 2006, she criticized multiculturalism during a debate, telling the moderator, “Not all cultures are created equal.”
To him these are gaffes; to the people in the fly-over states it is the politically incorrect truth. Not all societies and cultures are created equally. Would you actually argue that the Free Market, Representative Republic our country was founded on is morally equivalent to the Communist Totalitarian regimes in the former Soviet Union or present day North Korea or China? No, they are not equivalent and under the microscope of history the virtues of some cultures over others becomes clear. It is only the multicultural socialist left in our country that tries to draw such moral equivalencies.
Michelle talked the talk and walked the walk, if I may, and she won her reelection because she stood on her conservative principles and let no one doubt her resolve. Also she did it after the Republican Party pulled out on her, saying she was just to conservative a candidate for them.
The spineless weenies at the RNC run from real conservatives and give us McCain the moderate-Maverick and guess what, no big surprise he cannot win.
How many times do I have to say this, run on genuine, no holds barred conservatism and you will win. Just look at the electoral map of the 1984 Reagan reelection, all red except for Wisconsin, that is a landslide, and that is what running as a true conservative will get you.
The Liberals did not win big like they told us they would, they did well, they got the White House and picked up 5 Senate seats. They did pickup 19 seats in the House; not nearly what we were promised was going to happen.
Liberals need slick multimillion-dollar advertising campaigns to try and convince voters to support them, real conservatives merely need to show up and state their case, clearly and with optimistic passion.
Conservatism is, at its heart, what American is all about. Free people following their dreams and pursuing happiness, living their lives and raising their children without a big brother, cradle to grave government breathing down their necks.
The next two years are going to be a struggle, if the liberals now in control of Washington actually do start implementing some of the socialist plans they campaigned on, we could be in some real trouble.
Higher taxes, more government entitlements, bigger more oppressive federal oversight of our everyday lives is not conducent to a thriving economy and greater self reliance. It is however a breading ground for recession and slothfulness. Why work hard to get ahead just to have the government punish your success with higher tax rates? So they can then take your money and spread the wealth to someone who has not earned it? Does not sound like the American dream to me.
In the next two years the RNC has a job to do, dump all of the blue blood moderate weasels. They are running the party and the country into the ground faster than even Jimmy Carter could have. If they really need a political party to be happy, then go over to the Democratic party.
Republicans must get back to their true conservative roots or face becoming a party of irrelevance.
