Review of History as it applies to taxes and growth
Prior to the 17th amendment and the Roosevelt administration this country was among if not the most prosperous and fastest growing in the world. By fastest growing I do mean industrially.
So what happened?
Senators no longer represent the states, Germany has more diplomatic representation in Washington D.C. than does Georgia.
The unchecked growth and expansion of the Federal government and its power, influence and interference in your everyday life.
Prior to FDR these agencies did not exist or they did not have anywhere near the kind of suffocating influence over your life and your job as they do now.

STILL THINK THIS IS FUNNY?
From the landing of the Mayflower and the settlement at Jamestown, Virginia up until the turn of the 20th century this country led the world in economic growth and personal prosperity. More new wealthy people and families were created in this country in that time period than in any other country of the time. Now that is spreading the wealth around, but, it was done the right way. It happened because or the personal, economic, and religious freedom that this country offered. In no small part it was aided by a lack of government interference in personal and economic activity. A condition, which no longer exists in the United States of America today.
Not one of these taxes existed 100 years ago, & our nation was the most prosperous in the world.
We had absolutely no national debt, had the largest middle class in the world, and Mom stayed home to raise the kids.
What in the heck happened? Can you spell 'politicians?
Here you can find a fairly comprehensive list of Federal agencies and regulatory boards created since 1877. http://courses.umass.edu/hist151g/lectures/fedexpansionweb.htm
