Governor Perry and His Stance On States Rights vs Federal Authority
I wish republicans would grow up, grow a pair and return to their conservative roots.
Whiney republicans are crying about Rick Perry’s gubernatorial stance on In State Tuition for the children of illegal aliens and the HPV vaccination of girls.
This is a cleaver ploy to try and distract the public from the real issues. Rick Perry is a Federalist; he is a States Rights Governor.
Gov. Perry believes as our founders, and I understand there are issues that belong only in the states. Both of the above issues are state issues and have no place in the federal law. If Gov. Perry and the Texas state legislature thought either of these issues were better addressed by federal rather than state law, they would have lobbied congress to pass a law.
Follow up:
Gov. Perry understands the limits placed on the federal government by the Constitution and he understands the restraints on congress by the 10th amendment. Another issue I am not hearing about that was signed by Gov. Perry was the Texas Castle Law. This too was a states rights issue. The Castle Law made clear in the Texas Law the right of the average citizen to defend their person, property and workplace by force of arms if necessary. It further restricted the use of frivolous lawsuits to stop Texans from defending themselves. Gov. Perry has repeatedly signed bills into law that extent and protect individual liberty and personal responsibility. Unlike the current occupant of the white house.
The in state tuition rate issue came to Gov. Perry from the Texas legislature. Oh and by the way, just for argument sake, Gov. Perry could have vetoed the bill. The bill had passed the legislature by a veto proof majority. Gov. Perry had no choice but to sign it. Had the Governor vetoed the bill, the legislature would have easily overridden the veto and the bill would still have been made Texas law.
If you want to understand Gov. Perry you have to ask the proper question.
Would you as president sign the same bills into the federal law?
The answer would be a resounding NO!
Gov. Perry believes these issues are states rights and they are not federal issues.
Grow up republicans! There is a separation between state and federal authority, read about it, the reference material you will need is called the United States Constitution.
