The Annual Theft of Christmas Lights Has Started Again

So it goes on again.

The annual theft of outdoor Christmas decorations in College Station has begun once again.

Friday night Dec. 2nd 2011 at 11:23 PM we had a Snowman and Penguin air blown snow globe stolen from our front yard.

I have long since believed and have been informed that these annual occurrences are mainly fraternity pranks and hazing rituals. Pranks and rituals end at theft of real property, criminal trespassing, destruction of private property and lets not even mention theft of the holiday spirit for the host city.

When are the students of Texas A&M university going to learn that daddy’s little darlings are guests in our homes? College Station is the host city for that university, we are not beholden to it, and this town is not their playground or litter box.

We the full time residents, the taxpayers, the business owners are fed up. So this time I have photos and video. I have turned them over to the police, I will press charges and I will sue if necessary for the real money loss and my time and effort. I am also releasing the video along with a reward for the arrest, conviction and return of my property.

The alumni of Texas A&M and the parents of current students need to start policing their own, when we the residents of College Station start parenting for you, you will need bail money and an attorney.

Be very aware, Texas has the Castle Self Defense law. One of these nights one of these idiots is going to surprise and frighten a home owner and the kid is going to get shot. I can just hear the wailing and nashing of teeth when that happens. It will be the fault of no one but the perpetrators and their parents. You have been warned, and you should have raised your children to respect the property of others.

Below you will find the security camera video of the two males committing the crime.

This type of behavior should not be tolerated by the University, the Corps of Cadets nor by the Alumni, everyone needs to make it clear to these kids this is not socially acceptable behavior and will not be tolerated. When you are a guest in someone else’s home you should act with respect and consideration. If you are an alumni and do not care to have the legacy of your school tarnished, you should make contact with A&M and the Corps.

If you are the parent of one of these "students" you should be policing your own. We should all remember the Aggie Code of Honor: An Aggie does not lie, cheat, or steal or tolerate those who do. Update 2011-12-06 as of 5:00 PM CST. I have not had any contact with the College Station Police dept. about this incident after the reporting officer took the statement and collected the video and photos on CD. No one has called me about the video or the still images, no contact with a detective or anyone else. I am starting to wonder if they are concerned about this type of crime at all.
