Success of 1984 vs The Failure of 2012

Tonight January 24, 2012, the President will deliver his State or the Union address to congress and the American people. This president took office with much the same problems in our economy and in the world as President Reagan did. There is one key difference, Reagan did the right things to fix them, this president has followed the liberal playbook written by FDR and Johnson, the very same playbook the worsened the great depression and created the welfare state as we know it. The playbook that took away American freedom and prosperity and replaced it with an over taxing, over spending cradle to grave nanny state administered by the tyrannical federal government.
As Reagan points out in his 1984 state of the union address “a government program is the closest thing you will see to eternal life on this earth”, this president and the congress have created more “eternal life” than any in history. And the result, we are now worse off than we were 4 years ago. We have lost more and more freedom and replaced it with more and more government.

It baffles the mind to see how clearly the path to prosperity and peace was laid before us by a great man, and how the media and liberal elites in academia have so blurred and rewritten history that most people now do not even understand it. Reagan laid out a plan, a pathway. Smaller government, less regulation, more freedom, more personal responsibility and less intrusion into your life and your family. He believed as I do, the greatness of America is in her people, not her government. He believed and envisioned a future where your choices for how to spend and invest your hard earned money was your business. How and where to educate your children was your choice. How far and how high you would go in this life would be up to your dreams and your hard work. He never agreed that government should make these choices for you.
Listen to the 1984 State of the Union Address below.
Now, is that what your history teacher told you the 80’s were all about?
Better yet, after 3 years in office, has the current president been able to report the same advances?
The policies of Reagan are the principles of our country, laid out for us by our founders. They are not the policies and principles of the current federal government or this president. Had Obama followed any part of Reagan’s vision we would have already been well on the way to a firm and lasting recovery and a sound economy.
Just in case your history teachers still have you bamboozled.
Reagan did such a great job getting us back out of the mess FDR, Johnson, Carter and the democratically controlled congress got us into that in his reelection bid in 1984 he carried 49 of the 50 states. 49 states and the media, academia and both the democrat and republican elites alike want you to believe Ronald Reagan was an abject failure.

Had we never left the course Reagan set us on, the sky is the limit as to where we would be today. But we didn’t and now I can only ask, how do you like the view from the basement?
